There were a couple of yachts anchored in the bay, you can see them in the back of the photo above. Late at night, about 2:00 a.m., the wind came up pretty strong and one of the boats broke loose and came ashore. I don't know how they got it out, or if they did, as we left early the following morning. There's no help for many miles, and the high tide is less than the previous day. I think they're in trouble:
When we got to California, we first attacked all the boxes of building supplies and "stuff" we ordered:
The above photo isn't half of the stuff we needed to finish the house.
After packing the truck, we began to look into what type of paint we were going to buy. Talking to contractors, no one was happy with the new paint formulas that were recently changed to meet California EPA guidelines. Everyone we talked to said all brands of paint are pure garbage now, and only lasted two years max. Great.
We began to think that now, maybe Mexican paint would be better. We saw a Sherwin Williams paint store in Loreto, so we called Sherwin Williams. We talked to a real helpful guy who told us that the paint formulas in Mexico were different than California, and similar to Nevada, where the paint is still the old formula. On the way home we stopped in Loreto, and got some paint samples. The guys were very knowledgable and helpful. They even matched the outside color perfectly. After trying the sample colors for the interior, we'll return and buy the paint next week.
After three weeks in California, we were on the road home. It's good to see the Sea of Cortez again:
